The Primary Election is Tuesday, and Q2 campaign-finance reports became available this week. The numbers reflect campaign finances through June 30.
Below are a few key takeaways from reports filed by candidates for statewide office:
Governor Katie Hobbs’ six-week blitzkrieg on television has significantly depleted her campaign warchest, leaving her roughly even in cash-on-hand with her GOP challenger, Congressman Andy Biggs and No Labels candidate Hugh Lytle.
Congressman David Schweikert’s quixotic gubernatorial bid appears to be ending on Tuesday as he entered the early voting period with only $42,000 in his campaign account.
Gubernatorial candidates Risa Lombardo (Green) and Scott Neely (GOP) each qualified for $1 million in Clean Elections funding this quarter. Neely has pledged to spend it all attacking frontrunner Biggs, while much controversy surrounds Lombardo’s use of the public funding. The Arizona Green Party has distanced itself from Lombardo and calls her a sham candidate meant to divert progressive votes from Governor Hobbs.
