Only 1 in 2 Arizonans think the state is headed in the right direction.
Translation: Arizonans are anxious.
And that’s just one takeaway among many from a new statewide survey commissioned by the Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission. The survey of over 1,500 Arizona registered voters was conducted between Aug.12-21.
Unsurprisingly, the results show that concerns about cost of living, the economy and water are weighing most heavily on voters’ minds with the General Election just over a month away.
The survey also found a majority of voters support the eight statewide ballot measures by unusually wide margins.
You may quibble with the polling methodology (voters were asked to rank their support, instead of answering whether they intend to vote “yes” or “no” on each measure). But, the results appear to indicate broad public backing for the ballot measures impacting local government, K-12 education, election administration and more.
Each of the proposals was referred to the ballot by legislators. Public debate has been muted, as none of them have seen well-funded support or opposition campaigns.
